UN Summit of the Future Action Day 2

To generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors, the Secretary-General of the United Nations is convening the Summit of the Future Action Days on 20 and 21 September 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Bringing together representatives from Member States, civil society, private sector, academia, local and regional authorities, creative communities, youth, and many more, everyone will be present, included and engaged during the Action Days. These stakeholders have all played a key role in shaping the Pact for the Future and will be critical to its implementation. Their participation, contributions and catalytic mobilization will be essential to the success of the Summit of the Future and its follow-up. Expected participants include Heads of State, Ministers, senior UN officials and representatives from the private sector, civil society and other actors.

Action Day 2 will focus on multistakeholder partnership and action – paving a way towards a next chapter of multilateralism that is more inclusive and networked. To achieve this, the Action Day 2 will address three priority themes (session names are working titles and subject to change).

Each year, 200+ young trailblazers, social entrepreneurs, and innovators from over 50 countries gather in New York for 6 days to co-create dynamic new solutions that solve the world’s biggest challenges, increasing their knowledge, confidence and community, all while having the time of their lives. International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) 2024

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) is proud to present the 12th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD).

The theme of the 2024 ICSD is “Solutions for the Future”. The aim of the conference is to bring together persons involved in research, policy, practice, and business, in advance of the United Nations Summit of the Future. Participants will share practical solutions for achieving the SDGs.

Future of Economics Forum 2024

Future of Economics is a youth-led think tank which, through an interdisciplinary approach to learning and applying economics, fosters multi-stakeholder action towards stable economic growth and a thriving society as a result.

To collectively advance towards long-term prosperity, the Future of Economics Forum hosts research showcases and experimental workshops on eight key areas of economics.

University of Chicago: Kenneth C. Griffin Department of Economics is a co-host of this forum.

SDG Media Zone

Follow the UN Department of Global Communications flagship SDG Media Zone during UNGA79. Live panel sessions center around advancing the 2030 Agenda and takes the conversation out of the policy sphere and into public discourse through impactful in-depth interviews and dialogues on global issues that matter to people everywhere.

This year’s SDG Media Zone will highlight the tracks of the Summit of the Future, including the new agenda for peace, global governance, financing for development, digital cooperation, and future generations, as well as staple SDG issues. Future of Internationalism Forum

Global cooperation requires bringing together diplomats, practitioners, scholars, and youth to explore the evolving demands of diplomatic statecraft.

The Future of Internationalism Forum aims to help youth better understand the nexus of theory and practice, and investigate the future challenges and impact of domestic politics on diplomacy.

Columbia (School of International and Public Affairs) and Georgetown (Walsh School of Foreign Service) will jointly host this Forum.
