Presentation of the results of the most extensive survey on land use changes in Brazil over the past three decades (MapBiomas) and the consequences for emissions and removals of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Guests will discuss the impacts on biodiversity, agriculture and the Brazilian economy and what lessons can be applied to other regions of the planet. Presentations may include the results of MapBiomas PanAmazonia and MapBiomas Alert (remote system to validate deforestation alerts). This successful case on the land use agenda directly contributes for the compliance with Brazil’s NDCs.
