We will discuss the causes for the decline, in light of India’s flagship skilling programmes, as well as the shifting development narratives towards SDGs (4, 5 and 8). We aim to disseminate findings from PAC’s India country case study (part of Southern Voice’s “State of the SDGs”). Topics are the barriers to and enablers of women’s participation in the workforce in India, opportunities for new research in the areas of gender and work, and policy relevance of women’s participation in the workforce in view of the 2030 Agenda.
