The consequences of climate change are very real and felt on a daily basis by milions of people globally. Girls are particularly vulnerable, as the inequality and discrimination they are subjected to are only amplified by the impacts of climate change. Girls and young women are not just victims: they hold enormous potential to contribute to solutions for climate mitigation and adaption. To date, climate strategies and policies ignore both of these realities: the specific needs of girls and young women are not being addressed and girls and women are being shut out of the decision-making progress on all levels.
The event will provide an opportunity to highlight how girls and young women are impacted by climate change and discuss strategies to support their participation and leadership in the climate space.
