Launch of the 3rd Global Report on Peaceful, Just and Strong Institutions (SDG 16)
The 2025 Global Progress Report on SDG 16—produced by OHCHR, UNDP, and UNODC—will be launched at a UNGA side event marking 80 years of the UN and 15 years of the 2030 Agenda. The report provides the latest data and analysis on peace, justice, and inclusion, highlighting impacts of conflict, human rights linkages, forced displacement, and data gaps. The event will present findings, share initiatives, and reaffirm SDG 16 as vital for resilient, just societies.
Conference on Reform of the UN Charter
This high-level conference will examine the urgent need for UN reform, with a focus on Article 109 of the Charter, which enables the General Conference to consider amendments. Building on the 2024 Summit of the Future and its Pact, this event will address how rivalries, funding gaps, veto use, and weak law enforcement undermine the UN. With the Charter last amended in 1973, participants will explore bold steps to modernize the UN for today’s global challenges.
