Global Goals Fellows Forum

The Forum will present on how to adopt the Global Goals into the blueprint of any organization — for-profit, not-for-profit and anywhere in between — to advance the 2030 Agenda.

Through a four-pillared “HERO” approach (Humanitarianism, Empowerment, Resourcefulness, Opportunity), the Global Goals Fellows will guide us on how to stand up and step up as global citizens, and be heroes for future generations.

SDGs Spotlight is a social media engagement campaign to raise awareness for the Sustainable Development Goals and engage and educate people to become actors of change.

Community Advocacy & Action Project (CAAP)

Community Advocacy & Action Project (CAAP) is an evidence-based project designed by iLEAD AFRICA under their Be The Change initiative. It is a project that promotes citizen participation in governance by building the capacity of people in rural and urban marginalized communities to hold their government accountable, especially to the provision of necessary social amenities like healthcare, education, water, sanitation, road maintenance, and the environment.

This project runs from September 17 through December 17.

YOUNGA® is the largest global festival for impact. Using mixed reality, YOUNGA unites young people with decision-makers to co-create solutions for a more inclusive, sustainable world during the United Nations Decade of Action from 2020 to 2030.

YOUNGA 2022 will span from September 28 through October 21.

CFA Society New York 3rd Climate and ESG Asset Owner Summit

The systematic integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into investment strategies, and investment decision making across asset classes, has exploded. Asset owners around the world were early adopters of sustainable investment commitments, taking leadership roles—in their capacity as fiduciaries—to advocate for the achievement of long term, sustainable, risk-adjusted returns, consistent with their fiduciary duty.

The event will focus on the status of sustainable investing among asset owners by featuring addresses and panel discussions led and informed by asset owner representatives from around the world.

Tech for Democracy: Problems, Progress and the Copenhagen Pledge

This gathering will bring together senior leaders from across geographies and stakeholder groups based on their support for the Copenhagen Pledge on Tech for Democracy, launched by the Danish government last year.

The event will feature opening remarks by Microsoft President and Vice Chair Brad Smith followed by a keynote address from the Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs Jeppe Kofod. American Leadership in Advancing the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals have been embraced in American boardrooms, city halls, and classrooms as a shared understanding of what it means to build a resilient future where no one is left behind.

On the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, the Center for Sustainable Development at the Brookings Institution and the United Nations Foundation will convene U.S. leaders from across sectors to discuss how they are using the Sustainable Development Goals to advance progress and build collaboration at home and around the world.

The Amazon as a Bioeconomy Superpower: Investing in Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development

The aim of this session is to create awareness of the potential for a bioeconomy of standing forests and flowing rivers in the Amazon, leveraged by investments in science, technology, and innovation as called for in SDG 9.

The Amazon Basin is one of the world’s most biologically diverse areas, home to >10% of the world’s described species. Yet, the region is under threat; approximately 17% of the basin has been deforested, and an additional 17% of the biome has been degraded. Deforestation contributes to climate change and places the region in danger of crossing a tipping point beyond which today’s forests can no longer exist.

Responsible Business at the Forefront of South-South and Triangular Cooperation

Held on the sidelines of the Global South-South Development Expo in Thailand, this virtual side event will showcase concrete examples and lessons between the UN Global Compact, its Local Networks and participants, particularly at the regional level, on building back better from COVID-19 while advancing the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The event will showcase the inclusive and diverse nature of South-South and triangular cooperation that supports partnerships where each partner can contribute according to its own capacities and means, notably in the private sector.

With the aim to catalyze collaborations to advance the SDGs, this UNGA side event will highlight leading Africa-focused innovators from both sides of the Atlantic.

This year’s event will feature a vibrant discussion about the opportunities to do business and create impact between New York and African markets. It will also feature breakout sessions in emerging technology, remote work, sustainable fashion, startup investment, and health innovation.
