The Challenge is a global youth financial literacy design competition for ages 15–24, with cash prizes for winning teams. Participants choose one of four tracks—everyday money, credit, investing, or financial technology—and submit an one-to-two page classroom lesson plan exploring business, ethics, and stakeholder impact. Designed to engage students with UN SDGs through activities, the STC SDG Fair is a 1-day booth event held during lunchtime. Students participate in a Stamp Card Rally, visiting booths on Zero Hunger, Quality Education, Good Health & Well-Being, Responsible Consumption, and Climate Action. Each booth contains a 3-5 minute activity, and those who complete all challenges receive a prize. UNICEF is also heavily involved throughout the booth activities.

Youth Voice Festival, in support of SDG Action Campaign, is a virtual showcase of literature and media. Young people aged 13-24 worldwide are invited to submit short media in any medium: written, audio, visual, or film, responding to SDG 4, Quality Education, from their own perspectives. An English translation is mandatory. A review panel of youth in arts will select 8-10 creators to present and take part in moderated discussions. Qualifying entries appear in a free digital anthology by LitLore.

Youth aged 13-18 pitch solutions addressing the health impacts of climate change. After an interactive icebreaker game, teams then present their ideas to fellow participants. The Youth Solutions Lab, organized by JCI and AIESEC during UNGA81, will bring together young leaders and SDG practitioners to turn global challenges into practical action. Following an expert panel, participants will design solutions to real SDG-aligned cases and present their ideas. This year’s SDG Business Forum, co-hosted by UN Global Compact, UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs (UN DESA) and the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), coincides with the start of the UN’s Decade of Action to deliver the SDGs. Now in its fifth year, the SDG Business Forum will showcase companies that are using their influence to lead the recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Through panels and keynotes, the SDG Business Forum will examine a new form of leadership that has emerged during this crisis – a generation of executives and rising professionals who understand that there are no successful businesses in a failing world. As the first year of the climate decade draws to an end, Climate Week NYC, taking place September 21-27, will be the major opportunity in 2020 for those with the power to halve emissions by 2030 to showcase amazing climate action and find ways to do more.

Over the course of three days during the UN General Assembly on 22-24 September, the SDG Action Zone will convene leading thinkers, actors, creators, and activists through frank debate, challenging discussions, inspiring showcases and interactive exhibitions to drive the exponential change so needed for people and our planet.
A fully virtual SDG Action Zone has the power to create a more transparent, open, and inclusive UN General Assembly The programme will be crowd-sourced through a call for sessions, talks and creative content from people and key actors around the world.
A combination of live broadcasts and online sessions, the SDG Action Zone will provide space for deeper conversations, collaboration and experiences on three core areas for accelerating action on the Goals: People, Planet and Partnerships.
