Alliance Action Forum – A Spotlight on Regional Perspectives on Embedding Corporate Accountability within the UN System
This forum is a dialogue on the power of collaboration and knowledge-sharing among allies to bring tangible, multi-stakeholder initiatives to life on corporate accountability. It is now clear that measuring and evaluating business impact through increased mechanisms for corporate accountability cannot be achieved by a single organization, government, or stakeholder group. This event will highlight regional perspectives with an emphasis on stakeholders from Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
Closing the Corporate Accountability Gap in Support of the SDGs
During this high-level panel and networking event, WBA will launch its white paper on corporate accountability in pursuit of the SDGs. The paper puts forward an understanding of corporate accountability in the context of global agenda and as a process that involves many stakeholders and in its ability to transform companies. We will bring together leaders across governments, businesses, and civil society and more, to better understand each of our roles in closing the corporate accountability gap.
SDG Innovation Challenge 2023
Designed as a virtual, pan-African collaboration space, the SDG Innovation Challenge is a powerhouse for young Africans (18-35 years) to develop cross-boundary, sustainable solutions to grassroots challenges in order to further the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the grassroots level up. Since 2020, this challenge has called upon participants to employ creativity, collaboration, and complex thinking to tackle problems measurably and systematically.

UN Summit of the Future Action Day 1
To generate additional opportunities for the engagement of all actors, the Secretary-General of the United Nations is convening the Summit of the Future Action Days on 20 and 21 September 2024 at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
Bringing together representatives from Member States, civil society, private sector, academia, local and regional authorities, creative communities, youth, and many more, everyone will be present, included and engaged during the Action Days. These stakeholders have all played a key role in shaping the Pact for the Future and will be critical to its implementation. Their participation, contributions and catalytic mobilization will be essential to the success of the Summit of the Future and its follow-up. Expected participants include Heads of State, Ministers, senior UN officials and representatives from the private sector, civil society and other actors.
The Action Days are an opportunity to elevate the voice of youth in the multilateral system. Youth are key participants in efforts to secure breakthroughs in global cooperation. Youth challenge conventional thinking, hold leaders to account and are focused on generations that come after us. Youth stand to lose the most if global leaders fail to fulfil their promises. The Action Days will kick off with a dedicated, youth-led afternoon facilitated by the United Nations Youth Office in close collaboration with relevant networks/stakeholder groups to generate momentum ahead of the mandated Summit. The day will be convened under the theme of “#YouthLead for the Future: We believe in the promise of a better world for all”.
